Louise Burnett Henry
Funeral services for Louise Burnett Henry, one week shy of 98 years old, of Birmingham went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tuesday afternoon Jan. 1, 2013. She was born Jan. 6, 1915, in Cullman to Wilmer and Lillian Burnett. She was the oldest of six children. She primarily worked in retail, working for SH Cresse, Woolco and Walmart. She was always active in her various churches over the years, teaching Sunday School and helping in any other way needed. She not only "talked the talk", but truly "walked the walk", always helping and serving others. She was a "hands-on" grandmother. Her grandchildren were her "hobby" and the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Lamar; sisters, Geneva Cole and Helen Sue Walker; and brother, James Burnett.
She is survived by her son Maurice (Carol); grandchildren, Kent (Sandra), Adam (Lea), Maura Hood (Tim) and Derek (Tonya); great-grandchildren, Kendra, Laina, Chloe, Sky and Mia; brother, Jerome Burnett; several nephews and nieces who she loved very much; and special friends, Joyce Carlee and Jo Knox.
A celebration of her life will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Center Grove Baptist Church, Pastor E.L. Mullen officiating, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to her church, Lakewood Baptist (8300 9th Ave. South, Birmingham, AL 35206; 205-332-3449) in East Lake.
Ridout’s Trussville Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
