Funeral services for Curtis William Elrod, 79, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Lane Howard and Ray Lathem officiating, with interment in Duck River Cemetery in Cullman.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Elrod died Tuesday, Jan. 1, at Marshall Medical Center in Guntersville. He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Joppa to Claude and Pauline Cornelius Elrod. He was a retired deputy sheriff with Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving up to the rank of Private E2.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; two sisters; and his wife of almost 56 years, Catherine Elrod.
Survivors include a son, Curtis J. Elrod of Guntersville; a grandchild, Taylor Elrod; a niece, Barbara Fay Elrod Keller; and a brother, Ronnie Elrod of Hanceville.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
