Jean was born in Birmingham Jan. 21, 1928. She lived most of her adult life in Arab, Ala., and was married 63 years to James M. Stisher, her childhood sweetheart. She was the daughter of Marvin and Henrietta Shaw Hooten.

Jean was a "bright star" to all who knew her. In earlier days, when she was in better health, she lived her life to the fullest, enjoying her family and friends. She made a full-time career of rearing her four wonderful children, and spoiling her grandchildren! She was a "lovely lady" and a loving, caring, sharing wife, mother, daughter, grandmother “Mima”, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; sisters, Lorene Hooten Meyer and Isolo Hooten Taglier; brothers, Lt. Colonel Howard Hooten and Sgt. Bill Hooten; and her precious pet dog, Max.

Survivors include two daughters, Jamie (Stan) McNabb and Jackie (Bruce) Smalley; two sons, Danny (Saundra) Stisher and Jimmy (Joanne) Stisher; one sister, Betty Leeth Haynes; one brother, Leldon M. Hooten; grandchildren, Bran Stisher, Seth Stisher, Justin Stisher, Jathan Stisher; Ashley (Dan) Jessup, Trey (Dolly) McNabb, Trent McNabb, Blake (Megan) Smalley and Alli Smalley; and eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Anna, Nicholas, and Lucas Stisher, Madelyn Stisher, Landon Stisher and Kinsleigh Jessup.
