CULLMAN — Jean Hooten Stisher

Jean Hooten Stisher, one of God's Angels, joined her "Heavenly Host" when she passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Holly Pond, where she gave her heart to Jesus at a very young age. The Reverend Richard Coggins of Cullman will officiate, with interment in Holly Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the church.

Jean was born in Birmingham Jan. 21, 1928. She lived most of her adult life in Arab, Ala., and was married 63 years to James M. Stisher, her childhood sweetheart. She was the daughter of Marvin and Henrietta Shaw Hooten.

Jean was a "bright star" to all who knew her. In earlier days, when she was in better health, she lived her life to the fullest, enjoying her family and friends. She made a full-time career of rearing her four wonderful children, and spoiling her grandchildren! She was a "lovely lady" and a loving, caring, sharing wife, mother, daughter, grandmother “Mima”, and sister.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; sisters, Lorene Hooten Meyer and Isolo Hooten Taglier; brothers, Lt. Colonel Howard Hooten and Sgt. Bill Hooten; and her precious pet dog, Max.

Survivors include two daughters, Jamie (Stan) McNabb and Jackie (Bruce) Smalley; two sons, Danny (Saundra) Stisher and Jimmy (Joanne) Stisher; one sister, Betty Leeth Haynes; one brother, Leldon M. Hooten; grandchildren, Bran Stisher, Seth Stisher, Justin Stisher, Jathan Stisher; Ashley (Dan) Jessup, Trey (Dolly) McNabb, Trent McNabb, Blake (Megan) Smalley and Alli Smalley; and eight great-grandchildren, Abby, Anna, Nicholas, and Lucas Stisher, Madelyn Stisher, Landon Stisher and Kinsleigh Jessup.

Memorials may be made to the Holly Pond Cemetery Fund, c/o Judy Jones, 3643 County Road 1650, Holly Pond, AL 35083.
