Allen Keith Norris
Allen Keith Norris, 65, of Vinemont succumbed to lung and liver cancer at home, surrounded by his family, Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013.
Keith is survived by his wife Kathy of 40 years; daughters, Bethany Holsomback of Pelham and Amy (Joey) Clark of Vinemont; siblings, Mozelle (Jack) Taylor of Genesee, Mich., J.C. (Faye) Norris of Madison, Betty (the late James) Foshee of Vinemont, Brenda (Roger) Elliott of Athens, Pam (Wyman) Collins of Vinemont. He was “PaPa” to eight grandchildren, Avery, Emma and Anna Holsomback of Pelham, Whitney, A.J. Turner and Kinsley Clark of Vinemont, and Kristian and Kaitlyn Clark of Gardendale. He will be greatly missed by his four-legged friends, Bama, Goldie and Maggie.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Curtis Norris and Arzelle Oden Norris of Vinemont; and brother, Henry Curtis Norris Jr. of Burton, Mich.
During the Vietnam war, Keith served our country as a military police officer at Camp Casey in South Korea. He loved to quail hunt, fish, watch University of Alabama football games, and watch his grandsons play football. He enjoyed the beauty of nature, growing vegetable gardens, planting flowers, fruit bearing vines, and trees. He kept the birds and squirrels around his home regularly fed in birdfeeders he placed in trees. While growing up, he worked alongside his dad on their farm in the Providence community of Vinemont raising hogs, growing cotton, corn, sweet potatoes, and other produce. They always found time to quail hunt together. He and his dad raised and trained quality bird dogs. Before his health began to decline, he spent as much time as he could fishing on the river with his fishing buddies. He was well-known among family and friends for his made-from-scratch fried apple pies. Keith was known for his quick wit, especially to his grandkids.
A special “thank you” to Omega Hospice care, family members, and friends who have supported us in many ways, prayed for us, provided meals, and helped with his caregiving.
Celebration of Life services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, with visitation beginning at noon at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home on Eva Road in Cullman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be directed in his memory to Cullman Caring For Kids, 402 Arnold St. NE, Cullman, AL 35055; 256-739-1111.
