A funeral mass for Robert Michael Little, M.D., 80, of Calera will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at St. Bernard Abbey Monastery in Cullman.

Charter Funeral Home in Calera is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Little passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26. He was born in Kingston, England, to Dorothy T.M. Little. He earned his undergraduate degree in Organic Chemistry at St, Patricks College in Ottawa and his medical degree at the University of Ottawa. He practiced general medicine in Timmins, Ontario, for 15 years and while he was in Timmins, he was an active member of the community and a life member of the Kinsmen Clubs of Canada. He then relocated to the United States to Cullman, where he practiced general medicine with a focus on cardiology for just over 20 years. He completed his professional career employed with the Division of Disability Determination in Birmingham. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed spending time on the water with his family.    

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Anne Little; sons, Michael (Janice) Little and their children, Kelsey and Erica; Patrick (Susan) Little and their children, Brendan, Cameron, and Sarah; Timothy (Amy) Little and their daughter, Presley; and William (Jessica) Little and their children, Eloise, Charlie and Clancy; daughters, Dorothy (Mark) Bryant and their children, Caroline, Carson, and Courtney; Pamela Jones and her children, Nicholas, Samantha, Mary Catherine and Gavin; and Mary Margaret (Rob) Cooper and their children, Ryan, William and Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Bernard Abbey Monastery, 1600 St. Bernard Dr. SE, Cullman 35055-3057.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montevallo, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
