CULLMAN — Mary Jane Boike Weissend

Funeral services for Mary Jane Boike Weissend will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Patrick Egan, O.S.B. officiating, with interment in the Catholic Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weissend passed away Sunday, March 24, at her home. She was born to Charles and Norma Boike Sept. 14, 1943. Cullman has always been her home and she was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1961. She married Phillip Weissend Nov. 24, 1961, and they were married for 47-and-a-half years before Phillip passed away in 2009. Together they started Weissend Electric Company in 1977, where they made a wonderful team, he was the boss and she let him think he was the boss. Mary Jane’s hobbies included working with her flowers, garden and yard, always saying that was her therapy. She enjoyed life and always had a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Her greatest joy in life was doling out love to her granddaughter and three grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her husband; infant twin sons; her parents, Charles I and Norma Smith Boike; her in-laws, Harry William and Ruth Tingle Weissend; and her brother, Charles J. Boike.

Mary Jane leaves behind two sons, Patrick (Kim) Weissend and Greg Weissend; a daughter, Denise (Steve) Dickinson; grandchildren, Jake Morrow, Stephen Morrow, Lily Weissend and Judge Weissend; a brother, Edward (Evelyn) Boike; and nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her greatly.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Boike, Barry Boike, David Boike, Michael Boike,Tim Schiehl and Brian Fulenwider.

Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Teeling.

Donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church Window Fund, Sacred Heart School Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A rosary will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
