CULLMAN — Alvarine Nunley

Funeral services for Alvarine Nunley, 83, formerly of Hazel Green, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Hazel Green Funeral Home, 13921 U.S. Highway 231-431 N., Hazel Green, AL 35750, with interment in Charity Cemetery, Hazel Green.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nunley passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, at her home surrounded by family and friends.

The family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to two very special ladies, Shelia Scott and Leslie Findley, who were instrumental in the care given to our family member and to Southern Care Hospice who helped care for her during her final days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe W. Nunley Jr.

Survivors include three children, Diane (Sam “Toby”) Johnson of Montgomery, Trena (Ron)  Pierce of Cullman, and Danny (Judy) Nunley of Hazel Green; two sisters, Bonnie (Bud) Morrow of Union Grove, Laura Bennet of Huntsville; two brothers, Johnny Earl Beal of Shelbyville, Tenn., and Anthony Beal of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Tina (Robby) Smith of Montgomery, Ryan Pierce of Huntsville, Matt (Amanda) Nunley of Ardmore, Heather (Garlan) Gudger of Cullman, Chris Nunley of Huntsville and Brandi (Les) Gardner of Hazel Green; and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
