Hurshel Ronald ‘R.C.’ Hays
Hurshel Ronald "R.C." Hays, 86 of the New Hope community in Holly Pond, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hays was born April 20, 1927, in Cullman County, the son of D. H. and Belzie Ann Doyle Hays. He was a retired welder with CBI Industrial and a devoted member of New Hope No. 2 Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army, Company "I"-167, during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a corporal. He was married to the former Winfred Lee Dye, who preceded him in death in June 2000.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Barry Lynn and Rita Hays; two daughters and sons-in-law, Burna Dean and Mike Orebaugh and Beverly Lynnea and Mark Howse; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winfred Lee Dye Hays; his parents; five brothers, Homer Emmet Hays, Hyatt Oscar Hays, Clevie Findel Hays, Ones Lee Hays and Calvin Hays; and three sisters, Eunice Ruby Walker, Irene Sparks and Evelyn Mae Hardin.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Bro. Dewey Briscoe officiating, with burial in Antioch Cemetery in Fairview.

Pallbearers will be Lee Austin, Eric Cleveland, Roger Trey Eidson III, Shane Hays, Carey Martin and Julius Nick Martin.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
