Funeral services for Betty Ruth Bennett Berger, 80, of Hobart, Ind., will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Rees Funeral Home, Pastor Fred Hoover and Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating, with burial in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.

Rees Funeral Home in Hobart, Ind., (219-942-2109) is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Berger passed away Friday, July 11. She was born on June 3, 1928, in Cullman to C.E. and Beulah M. Bennett. Betty moved to Hobart in 1959 and has been a resident ever since. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Portage, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, James, Chester and Aubrey Bennett; and two sisters, Faye McNeil and Gail Story.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Kurt) Gauder of Valparaiso, Ind., Bette (Ted) Sherman of Carmichael, Calif., and Karol Davis of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Cecil T. Bennett of New Orleans, La., and Dwight P. (Brenda) Bennett of Gulf Shores; a sister, Mary Miller of Cullman; seven grandchildren, Ronald (Karen) Mueller of Louisville, Ky., Michael (Patti) Mueller of Kouts, Ind., Amy (Craig) Mattes of Plainfield, Ill., Steven (Karen) Mueller of Columbus, Ga., Shane (Amy) Miller of Valparaiso, Ind., Kevin Miller of Hobart, Ind., and Arthur Miller IV of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a special nephew, Stanley Story; and devoted friend and neighbor, Rhonda Scharbach.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to VNA Hospice or the Epilepsy Foundation.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
