Carl G. Fincher

Funeral services for Carl G. Fincher, 56, of Arab will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Meek Baptist Church, Steve Fincher officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Fincher will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fincher died Sunday, Oct. 29 at Huntsville Hospital. He was born on June 1, 1950. He was retired from NARH after 27 years of service. He was an adjunct teacher with Wallace State Community College. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and completed his post-graduate studies at MTSU, receiving recognition as the top psychology student. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in the U.S. Army 173rd Airborne Division. He was also a member of the Meek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl H. Fincher.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Coker Fincher; a son, Jay C. Fincher; a daughter, Anna Gwen Fincher; his mother, Agnes Fincher of Arley; a brother, Roger Fincher of Arley; a sister-in-law, Faye Fincher; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Coker and L.B. White; three nieces, Amy (Eric) Fuller, Carrie (Greg) Abercrombie and Lori White; two nephews, Greg (Lora) Coker and Nathan Fincher; his mother-in-law, Lois Humphries; and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to one’s favorite charity in honor of Mr. Fincher.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Fincher, Eric Fuller, Keri Fincher, Ralph Williams, Byron Brown, Brad Alston and Tommy Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Rev. Wesley Anton Gerhardt Baasen

Funeral services for Rev, Wesley Anton Gerhardt Baasen, 77, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Christ Lutheran Church with Chaplain Ron Bynum and Rev. Don Strandlund officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery in Paige, Texas.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Baasen died Monday, Oct. 30, at his residence. He was born on Jan. 6, 1929, in Waco, Texas, to Paul and Alma Baasen. He spent his early life in Texas, graduated from Texas Lutheran College and then Wartburg Theological Seminary in Debuque, Iowa. He served 20 years as a chaplain in the military, and 39 years as a civilian parish pastor. He celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination into the ministry last June. In those 50 years, Pastor Baasen preaced 3,265 sermons, had 260 baptisms, 268 weddings and 82 funerals. All in all, the Hand of God, steadily moving “in spite of me.”

Survivors include his devoted wife of 43 years, Lucy (Dot) Baasen of Cullman; four daughters, Toncy (John) Little of Columbus, Ga., Katie Baasen of Atlanta, Paulette (James) Paige of Higdon, Ark., and Rebecca (Dave) Wilke of Elkader, Iowa; and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Christ Lutheran Church.



James Keith Willingham

Funeral services for James Keith Willingham, 41, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Malcolm Carter, Michael Jones and Vernon Willis officiating, with burial in Mt. Vernon West Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Willingham died Monday, Oct. 30 at his residence. He was born on Oct. 9, 1965, in Haleyville to Gerald and Doris Hayes Willingham. He was a contractor in the building industry.

He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Ellis and Flora Willingham, and Willie and Elsie Hayes.

Survivors include his mother, Doris Willingham of West Point; a daughter, Summer Willingham of Decatur; a son, Jared Willingham of Decatur; a grandson, Caden Smith of Decatur; two brothers, Terry Willingham and Wayne (Lisa) Willingham, both of West Point; a sister, Anita (Timmy) Smith of West Point; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today.



Doris Haynes McCugh Smith

Funeral services for Doris Haynes McCugh Smith, 87, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.



Ira Harvell

Funeral services for Ira Harvell, 91, of Hanceville will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, the Rev. Ray Lathem officiating, with burial in Fairview West Baptist Church in Fairview.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harvell died Sunday, Oct. 29 at Woodland Medical Center.



Pauline Thompson

Funeral services for Pauline Thompson, 91, of Cullman are incomplete and will be announced at a later date by Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Woodland Medical Center.



Hattie Florence Foster

Funeral services for Hattie Florence Foster, 101, of Hanceville, will be held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at 11 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Clarence Rice officiating. Burial will be in Colonty Cemetery in Hanceville

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Foster died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Hanceville. She was born May 18, 1905, to Andrew and Ida (McKenzie) Ayers.

Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Allen Wilson of Hanceville, and Alvin Foster of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters, Verla Hubbard of Hanceville, and Juanita Dawson of Newark, N.J.; and one brother, James Ayers of Hanceville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.



Andre James Kapluck

Andre James Kapluck, 69, of Cullman died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006. No services are planned

Hanceville Funeral Home is notifying.

Abanks Crematory in Birmingham is assisting the family.

Mr. Kapluck was born on Dec. 24, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio to Andrew and Edna Wilcox Kapluck.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Michele Raye Dyke; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Amanda Bowling Kapluck of Cullman; two sons, David Dyke of Lancaster, Calif., and James E. Dyke of Rosamond, Calif.; two daughters, Jean Kapluck Montalbano and Rebecca M. Kapluck Dyke of Brooksville; six granddaughters, Amanda Corrine Dyke of California and Megan L. Dyke of Rosamond, Calif., Amber Noel Panza of Bell Flower, Jennifer M. Zoretia of Franklin, N.C., Jaime L. Seaton of Brooksville, Fla., and Angel Seaton of Weatherford; two grandsons, James Matthew Dyke and James Henry Dyke of Rosamond, Calif.; a great-grandson, Alexandria Powell of Brooksville, Fla.; and a great-granddaughter, Elektra R. Henson of Weatherford, Okla.



Joseph Aubrey Parish

Funeral services for Joseph Aubrey Parish, 64, of Ashville will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at Kilgroe Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Mt. Olive Bible-Based Fellowship Cemetery.

Kilgroe Funeral Home of Leeds is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parish died Sunday, Oct. 29.

Survivors include his wife, Diann Parish; two daughters, Mechel Johnson and Kimberly Paris; a stepdaughter, Tonya Hullett; two sons, Joseph Scott Paris and Barry Shane Paris; three sisters, Joyce Phillips, Mavolene Bivins and Sarah Payne; three brothers, Almon Paris, Thomas Parish and Jack Parish; five grandchildren; and one stepgrandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today.
