Funeral services for Gerdieleen Stanford, 78, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Hanceville Funeral Chapel, the Revs. David McDonald and Vernon Willis officiating, with interment in Damascus Cemetery in Hanceville.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stanford died Monday, March 13 in Cullman at Cullman Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boney Lee Stanford; two sons, Johnny and Ray Stanford; a granddaughter, Stacy Stanford; and her parents, Roman and Jennie Shelton Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie (Kenneth) Sherrill of Huntsville and Carla (Hank) Johns of Arab; a son, Ralph Stanford of Fairview; seven grandchildren, Kenny Sherrill, Myles Sherrill, Heather Johns, Daniel Johns, Tyler Stanford, Casa Holbrook and Austin Stanford; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Abigail Johnson and Brody Johns; two sisters, Linda Sue Asberry and Edna Cagle; and two brothers, Paul Smith and Jerry Smith.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Alton Burl Clark

Funeral services for Alton Burl Clark, 90, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Bros. Samuel Tucker and Jim Butts officiating, with burial in Antioch Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Clark died Monday, March 13 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 12, 1915, in Cullman to Marion Jesse and Polly Calene Federer Clark. He was a dairy farmer and a crop farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, enlisting on June 16, 1941, at Fort McClellan. A veteran of World War II, he was wounded on July 9, 1944, for which he received a Purple Heart. He was discharged on Oct. 25, 1945, from Ft. McPhearson, Ga. While in the service, he earned the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. He also received the American Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He fought in these major campaigns: The Normandy GO33 WD45; Central Europe GO46 WD 45; Northern France GO46 WD45; and the Rhineland GO40 WD45. He was a Tech 5th class with Troop C in the 113th Calvary Recon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Earl W. Clark and Dewey J. Clark.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Audie M. Kuykendall Clark; a son, Larry W. (Barbara) Clark; two daughters, Calene A. (Keith) Jones and Rida K. (Louie) Poston; nine grandchildren, Clark W. Jones, Lisa M. (Chris) Brooks, Jake Hooper, Karri Moore, Amy Lackey, Chris "C.J." (Gail) Jones, Jessica Hooper, Brandi Moore and Ashley Hamm; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today.



Ginger Doyle Armstrong

Funeral services for Ginger Doyle Armstrong, 51, of Vinemont will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, Howard Wolfe officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Armstrong died Monday, March 13 at Montclair Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 2, 1954. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, M.C. Doyle Sr.; and a grandson, Robert L. Armstrong III.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "Leon" Armstrong Sr.; four sons, Robert Leon (Shirley) Armstrong Jr., Mark David (Kelly) Armstrong, Jason Armstrong and Ryan (Denise) Armstrong; her mother, Hazel Doyle; a brother, Curtis (Janet) Doyle; three sisters, Linda (Darrell) Burns, Polly (Gary) Cannady and Dianne (David) Lamar; and 12 grandchildren, Kourtney Quick, David Armstrong, Brittani Armstrong, Jeffery Murphy, Joshua Hall, Rebecca Armstrong, Hilary Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Erik Miller, Jada Moore, Tiffani Armstrong and Melissa Armstrong.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Burns, Gary Cannady, David Lamar, Harold Armstrong, Roger Armstrong and Edward Armstrong.

Curtis Doyle will be an honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.



Teddy William Creel

Funeral services for Teddy William Creel, 49, of Vinemont will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, Garland McCarn officiating, with burial in the County Line Cemetery. A Sacred Harp singing will be held one hour prior to services.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Creel died Monday, March 13 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Jefferson County on March 19, 1956, to Charles E. and Bernice Pauline Moreland Creel. He attended elementary school in Sulfur Springs and was a high school graduate of Hayden High School, class of 1974. He was a cabinet builder from 1977 until his death, and had worked with Cullman Cabinet. He was an expert in woodworking.

He became a Christian in the early '70s and served as choir director at several churches in Cullman County.

He attended singing schools as a child and became very interest in Sacred Harp singing about two years ago. He was very much respected in the Sacred Harp family. He had an outstanding tenor voice and traveled far and wide with the Creel family to singings.

He will be greatly missed by family, friends and the singing family and his co-workers at Cullman Cabinet Shop.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Tommy Creel.

Survivors include his father, Charles E. (Charlotte) Creel of Jacksonville, Ala.; a sister, Charlotte (Garland) McCarn of Cullman; a brother, Steve (Debbie) Creel of Morris; a sister-in-law, Sue Creel; two nephews, Duke and Wesley Creel; a niece, Amanda (Daniel) Speegle; two great-nieces, Taylor Speegle and Madison Creel; a great-nephew, Dawson Speegle; two aunts, Pauline Childers, Edith Tate; and one uncle, Harrison (Flarce) Creel.

Pallbearers will be Don Srygley, Bill Sexton, Otho Pinter, Gary Kritner, Phillip Moore, Thomas Swann, Philip Davis and Sam Gibbs.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.



Vanetta Mae Hames

Funeral services for Vanetta Mae Hames, 86, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Moss-Service Chapel, J.C. Graves officiating, with burial in Valley Springs Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hames died Monday, March 13 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on Dec. 31, 1919, in Limestone County to Herbert F. and Carrie Jackson Smith. She later moved to Winterhaven, Fla., where she met her husband, Clifton Curtis Hames. They later moved to Cullman County. She was a member of Valley Grove Church of Christ for over 50 years and she loved gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Virginia Jackson; and a brother, Winford Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Hames Cooper and Lynda Hames Kelly; a son, Randy A. Hames; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Clayburn Baker, Robert Baker, Freddie Smith, Ralph Smith, Shannon Self and Emilio Sahurie.

Visitation was Tuesday.



Conrad Hudson Moon

Conrad Hudson Moon passed away on Monday, March 13, 2006, at his home. His beloved wife of 63 years, Montez Page Moon, was at his side throughout his long illness and his finally peaceful death. His parents were Lewis Alford and Magnolia Hale Moon.

His parents, his sisters, Tressie Redding, Anita Newman and his brother, Kelly Moon, preceded him in death.

Mr. Moon was born on Jan. 8, 1924, in Cullman. He was a member of the Enon Baptist Church on Eva Road in Cullman County. Mr. and Mrs. Moon lived for many years in Center Point before moving to Indian Springs Village in 1995 to be near his son and daughter-in-law. He spent his entire career in the automobile business until his initial retirement in 1995 from Lonnie Russell Ford. He began a second career as an insurance claims adjuster with Murphy Claims Service until his final retirement in 2001. Mr. Moon served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1943 until the conclusion of the war. He was a crew chief on a B-29 bomber crew in the South Pacific during the allied forces' final push to the Japanese mainland. In life, he spent many years entertaining his family and friends with his guitar. His band played in various locations over a period of 20 years. His grandson, Justin, played guitar with him as a child and continues to share the same love of playing to this day. In addition to his music, Mr. Moon loved spending time with his grandsons, providing them with many wonderful memories of adventures in the woods, wading through creeks, fashioning fishing poles on the spot and creating many occasions of joy and laughter.

Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Montez Page Moon; a sister, Oneta McGukin of Cullman; his son, Ronnie (Patricia) Moon; and grandsons, Jason Moon of Indian Springs and Justin (Julie) Moon of Pelham.

The family will receive visitors from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. A service will follow visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, Curtis Flatt officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16 at the Cullman City Cemetery of Cullman, Bryan Moody officiating.
