Funeral services for Bobby Gene Vansant, 81, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at Bethlehem East Baptist Church, Lawrence Normand and Dale McAnnally officiating, with interment with military honors at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vansant died Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born Thursday, Aug. 9, 1928, in Cullman County to John David "Tump" and Bernice Jackson Vansant. He was a member of Bethlehem East Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Alabama Power in 1989 after 31 years and two months of service.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Vansant; a son, Keith (Sherill) Vansant; two daughters, Loretta Vansant and Coleen Vansant; a stepson, Zane (Larisa) Bradford; a brother, J.D. Vansant; a sister, Sherron Trimble; three grandsons, Brian Vansant, Chris (Louise) Vansant and Nathan Vansant; two stepgrandsons, Andrew and Alexander Bradford; two great-granddaughters, Tori and Savannah Vansant; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bobby G. Vansant Memorial Fund at Hanceville Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Glenda Hyde McClellan died peacefully at her home with her devoted husband of 54 years by her side. She was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Cullman County to Oscar Ervin Hyde and Mary Ford Hyde.
