Funeral services for Martin Joseph Hacker, 91, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Patrick Egan officiating with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hacker died Monday, July 20, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1918, in Cullman County to John and Annie Hacker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He attended Sacred Heart Church throughout his life and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lelia Nix Hacker; an infant son, Kenneth Hacker; two brothers, Steven Hacker and “Sonny” Hacker; and two sisters, Agnes Graveman and Theresa Powell.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Candy) Hacker and Tom (Darlene) Hacker; a daughter, Karen (Lewayne) Gilbreath; 10 grandchildren, Marshall Louis Bartee IV, Crystal (Lee) Armstrong, Sara Hacker, Tommy (Holly) Hacker, Noel (Christy) Dowling, Katherine (Shawn) Wrisley, Michael Hacker, Candis (Jason) Birchfield, Michael D. Hacker and Rebecca Brannon; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be given at 7:30 p.m.
