Elizabeth Jane Nunnelley

Funeral service for Elizabeth Jane Nunnelley, age 87, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 2209 Lakeshore Dr., Homewood, AL 35209; with Reverend Don Campbell and Reverend Charles Walls officiating. The family will receive friends at First Baptist from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Cullman Public Cemetery, 812 9th SW Ave Cullman, AL 35055.

Miss Nunnelley died January 9, 2014 at Meadowbrook Extended Care in Shelby County.

She was a graduate of Cullman High School and was retired from Merrill Lynch with over 30 years of service.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham and Women's Missionary Union (WMU).  She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC).

She was preceded in death by her parents, B. H. Nunnelley, Sr. and Myrtle Nixon Nunnelley; brother and sister, B. H. Nunnelley, Jr. and Virginia Nunnelley Crawford; nephews, John Paul Nunnelley and Richard A. Crawford and niece, Linda Crawford McQueeney.  She is survived by nephew Henry W. Nunnelley and nieces Carol Crawford Romer and Martha Nunnelley Catchings and numerous other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to WMU Foundation; 100 Missionary Ridge; P.O. Box 830010; Birmingham, AL 35283-0010.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, Birmingham, AL.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
