Barbara Annette York

CULLMAN — Funeral services for Barbara Annette York, 67, of the Springhill community, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8,  2014, at Cullman Heritage Chapel, Randy Sellers officiating, with burial in Fellowship Cemetery in Springhill.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. York died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Tuscaloosa after an eight-year battle with cancer, surrounded by her sons and grandchildren. She was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Cullman to Delone and Lallie Faye McAfee. She was a Registered Nurse, serving for over 35 years at Cullman Regional Medical Center in the Labor & Delivery Section, participating in the delivery of countless local babies, including three of her own grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Welti.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years. David D. York, and a son, David Todd York.

Survivors include two sons: Scottie (Tammi) York of Warner Robins Ga., Jason (Maureen) York of Tuscaloosa; six grandsons: Zachary, Jackson, Forrest, Barett, Wheeler, and Morgan York; five granddaughters: Grace, Faith, and Abigail York, and Ariel and Ashlyn Davidson; and a brother, Steven McAfee.

Barbara was a wonderful and selfless mother and wife, and a loving and caring Maw Maw to all her grandchildren, who loved her greatly and will miss her just as much. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and shared that love and her faith with all who knew her.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
