Harold Wayne Speegle
Funeral services for Harold Wayne Speegle, 71, of Crane Hill, will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hanceville, the Rev. John Jankens officiating, with burial in Bowman’s Chapel Methodist Church located on County Road 310. The church will be open at 11 a.m. Formal visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the church, prior to services.
Harold was born Dec. 5, 1942, to Dexter Bernard “D.B.” Speegle and Thelma Campbell Speegle of Crane Hill. He succumbed to cancer at his residence to go home to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 16.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Glenda Michelfelder Speegle; two daughters, Susan (Mike) Cupp and Angie (Herrell) Collins; three grandchildren, Jessie (David) Jankens, Amber Collins and Alesia Cupp; a sister, Kay (B.R.) Swann; and several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Talley; and her husband, Sherrill Talley.
Harold was raised in Arkadelphia where his parents owned a general merchandise store. He graduated from Hanceville High School in 1960, joined the National Guard in 1962, and married Glenda Michelfelder in 1963. Harold served for six years in the National Guard. He graduated from Jefferson State College with an air-conditioning/refrigeration degree. Then he worked at U.S. Pipe in Birmingham, and served out a four-year apprenticeship as a journeyman electrician. Later, he was a partner in H&H Electric Company in Cullman. Upon his parents’ retirement from their second store, Harold and Glenda took over Speegle’s Bait Shop on Smith Lake. He and Glenda ran and owned Speegle’s Marina for 40 years. Harold was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Board of Directors for the Chamber in the 1980s.
Throughout Harold’s life, he was known for being quite the outdoorsman. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with family and friends. Harold was a dedicated husband, loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to many wonderful people. He was a man of strong faith, honor, and character.
His family would like to say a special “thank you” to the doctors and staff of UAB Cancer Center, Southern Care Hospice staff, Hanceville Funeral Home staff, family members, church members, and friends for all their prayers and support.

Carlton Eugene Stafford
Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
