Still riding high from Tuesday’s home win over Vinemont, St. Bernard rocked the Asbury Rams for a 25-15, 25-6 victory Thursday on the road.
Abbie Mescher was extremely helpful with 26 assists and three aces, while Zana Wilson pitched in five aces and four kills. Other St. Bernard contributors were Zoie Wilson, five kills and two aces; Michayla Brown, four kills and four aces; Aimme Cortes, eight digs; Dani Moeller, four digs; and Katherine Gamble, three kills.
According to coach Shannon Mescher, the Saints' junior varsity squad "started off hot," but maybe "because it was 90-plus degrees in the gym."
It might've had something to do with its play, too, as St. Bernard survived a three-set thriller, winning 25-15, 18-25, 15-13.
Avy Whaley reeled off seven aces and three kills, and Sophia Rataj chipped in five kills and two blocks. Greer Cauthen had 11 assists, and libero Meg Borths contributed the same number of digs.
