HAMILTON — Logan Rogers scored twice in a span of 1 minute, 55 seconds in the fourth quarter to boost Hamilton to a close 19-7 victory over Vinemont Friday night.

The Aggies maintained second place with the key Class 3A, Region 7 win in a game it trailed 7-6 late in the fourth quarter. Hamilton turned the ball over three times, all on interceptions, and managed 199 total yards.

The Aggie defense was equal to the task on a night the offense struggled. They forced three turnovers and limited Vinemont to 137 yards.

Hamilton took an early 6-0 lead on Charley Metcalf's 70-yard punt return with 2:25 to play in the first half.

Vinemont went up midway through the third quarter when Kurtis Brawner connected with Garrett Sipe on a 38-yard touchdown pass.

Rogers scored on a 1-yard run to put Hamilton (5-1, 3-1) ahead 12-7 and then clinched the contest less than two minutes later with another 1-yard run after holding the Eagles (3-3, 2-2) on downs.

Timmy Parker's two interceptions keyed Hamilton's defensive effort.
