Good Hope’s varsity volleyball team picked up two crucial area wins on Monday afternoon, defeating Vinemont and Danville in best-of-five matches.
The Raiders defeated the Eagles by scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-14. Katelyn Bishop led the way with 11 kills, while teammate Kayla Scott contributed seven of her own. Kaylee Maddox chipped in six kills and seven aces.
Other contributors included Alannah Henke, five pass assists, four kills and two aces; Hannah Smith, 20 set assists; and Hannah Clay, five pass assists.
Good Hope’s second match was a bit more competitive, as the Raiders edged the Hawks in four sets 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23. The Red and White trailed by three in the final set but reeled in five consecutive points on Scott’s serve to rally back and garner the victory.
Scott finished the match with 14 kills and 10 pass assists, while Bishop added nine kills, eight blocks and three aces. Henke was good for seven kills, seven blocks and four pass assists. Maddox added five kills and four aces. Sierra Kinser tallied five pass assists, two kills and one ace, and Smith came through with 13 set assists and one ace in the thrilling victory.
