Maison Goodwin’s RBI single in the top of the seventh inning propelled Cullman to a 3-2 win over Northridge High in the second day of the 19th annual Hoover Buccaneer Spring Break Classic on Tuesday.
The win improved the Bearcats record to 14-10. They will play Florence today at 7 p.m. in Hoover.
% Cullman 12, Brentwood High 0: The Bearcats offense exploded for 12 runs during the morning game of the Hoover Spring Break Classic on Tuesday.
After a two quick first inning runs, Cullman’s Zac Crocker broke the game open with a two-run double in the third inning to give his team a 4-0 advantage.
The Bearcats closed the deal in the seventh inning, however, taking advantage of a leadoff double by Kristian Robinson, followed by a walk from Clay Krout.
Goodwin drove in Robinson on an RBI single before Kolby Robinson knocked in his brother with an RBI double to left field to make it 9-0.
Cole Collins and Keegan Thompson each contributed with RBI hits as well to extend their team’s advantage to 11 heading into the final inning of play.
Thompson picked up the win for the Bearcats with another strong performance. The Auburn signee had 12 strikeouts and allowed four hits in the shutout.
Cullman’s varsity boys golf team finished sixth at the Bob Jones Invitational at The Ledges Country Club on Monday.
The team shot a 357. Decatur High won the 12-team tournament with a score of 336.
Sylas Elliott shot an 83 for the Bearcats, which was good enough for a fifth-place individual tie.
Lee Mattox was next in line with an 87. Connor Stevens shot a 90. Weston Rakestraw carded a 97 and Colby Sandlin, a 107.
