ADDISON — Addison officially began its bid for yet another trip to the state championship Monday at home, clinching the Class 1A, Area 11 Tournament title with a 25-10, 25-15, 25-13 win against No. 5 Meek.
The top-ranked Bulldogs reached the championship match by defeating St. Bernard earlier in the evening.
Addison can now look ahead to defending its North Super Regional title. The Bulldogs will open the tournament, which will be played at the Von Braun Center, at 12:45 p.m. Friday against Waterloo.
Holly Pond will also make the trek to Huntsville, but not as area champs. The host Broncos came up just short in the 3A, Area 12 Tournament title match, falling to New Hope in three close sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-23) after beating J.B. Pennington to advance.
The Green and White will get going in the North Super Regional at 12:45 p.m. Friday against No. 3 Madison Academy.
Stats for Addison and Holly Pond were unknown by publication of this story.
