HOLLY POND — First it was Haley Terry, and then it was Haley Bagwell.
And when it was over Holly Pond had its fifth straight victory.
Terry scored 20 points, all coming in the first half, and Bagwell added 14 more, all in the second, to lead No. 7 (3A) Holly Pond to a 71-51 home win over Cullman County rival Fairview on Tuesday.
The Broncos (13-3) started slow, but took a 17-6 lead after one quarter thanks to three 3-pointers from Courtney Deese. Holly Pond extended its advantage to 37-20 at halftime and 56-32 entering the fourth quarter.
Deese finished with a season-high 17 points for the Broncos, while Alisha Keller tossed in 11. Nora Katherine Henderson finished with four, while Kelsey Hawkins and Maeleigha Basenburg added three each.
For Fairview (5-5), Jazz Foust and Ashton Ryan scored 13 points apiece and Alysha Smith added eight.
Holly Pond travels to Brindlee Mountain on Friday for a Class 3A, Area 13 game. Fairview hosts Cold Springs on Thursday.
• Cold Springs 51, Cleveland 34: Cold Springs raced to a 36-18 halftime lead on the way to a Class 2A, Area 13 win over Cleveland.
The top-ranked (2A) Eagles (11-1) took an 18-10 advantage after one period before outscoring Cleveland 18-8 in the second. The host Panthers outscored Cold Springs 16-15 the rest of the way.
Ka-Ka Crider led the Eagles with 15 points, while Abby Myrex scored 13. Georgia Myrex tossed in 10 and Courtney Attaway added eight.
Cold Springs visits Fairview on Thursday.
• Good Hope 68, Vinemont 52: The Raiders remained perfect in Class 3A, Area 12 play with a win over Cullman County rival Vinemont on the road.
Freshman standout Kayla Tillman poured in 25 points to pace Good Hope (8-5, 3-0).
Christina Franks led Vinemont (4-7, 2-1) with 19 points, while Jordan Melton had 18.
• Grissom 56, Cullman 40: Cullman lost a non-area game on the road at Grissom in Huntsville.
The Bearcats (3-10) host Curry on Thursday in a Class 5A, Area 12 matchup.
• Hanceville 50, J.B. Pennington 21: Hanceville took a Class 3A, Area 12 win over J.B. Pennington in Blount County.
The Bulldogs (3-7) host Sumiton Christian on Friday.
• West Point 58, Dora 45: The Warriors picked up a Class 4A, Area 11 victory at Dora.
Rachel Persall scored 15 points to lead West Point (5-5), while Sarah Perry and Kaitlin Chappel tossed in 12 each. Susan Harbison added eight.
The Warriors travel to Arab on Friday.
Varsity Boys
• Fairview 72, Holly Pond 46: Fairview broke open a tight game in the second half to grab a win over Cullman County rival Holly Pond.
The game was at 31-all midway through the third quarter, but the Aggies (8-5) outscored the Broncos (5-8) 41-15 the rest of the way.
Nathan Ring paced Fairview with 24 points, Ryan Parker scored 15 and Trett Hardman finished with 10. Dex Sullivan tossed in eight points and Luke Bailey added five.
For Holly Pond, Wesley Graham and Thomas Hays scored 13 points each and Drew Adams added 10.
Fairview hosts Cold Springs on Thursday. Holly Pond travels to Brindlee Mountain on Friday.
• Grissom 57, Cullman 27: Cullman lost a road game against Grissom in Huntsville.
The Bearcats (6-4) host Curry in a Class 5A, Area 12 game on Thursday.
• Cold Springs 71, Cleveland 50: Cold Springs won a Class 2A, Area 13 game on the road against Cleveland.
The Eagles (10-4) travel to Fairview on Thursday.
• Meek 59, Addison 37: Meek opened up a tight game with a 16-2 run in the third quarter, grabbing a win over Winston County rival Addison.
The Tigers (10-2) turned a 23-20 halftime lead into a 39-22 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Dylan Cleghorn paced Meek with 30 points, while Sean Hiller added 21.
For Addison, Logan Jones tossed in 11 points.
Meek visits Hackleburg for a Class 1A, Area 13 game on Thursday.
• Hanceville 58, J.B. Pennington 25: Hanceville beat Class 3A, Area 12 rival J.B. Pennington on the road in Blountsville.
The Bulldogs (9-5) host Sumiton Christian on Friday.
JV Girls
• Holly Pond 27, Fairview 26: Holly Pond remained undefeated on the season with a tight win over Fairview.
Lexi Lynn led the Broncos (12-0) with eight points, while Taylor Terry added seven.
Marlah Stancil paced Fairview with eight points.
• Cold Springs 50, Cleveland 20: The Eagles outscored Cleveland 30-8 in the second half to pick up an easy win on the road.
Karlee Perdue led Cold Springs (6-2) with 17 points, while Haley Freeman finished with 14.
• Good Hope 39, Vinemont 31: Cierra Jenkins scored a game-high 21 points to lead Good Hope over Vinemont. Cara Goodwin added eight points in the win.
Rachel Sellers led Vinemont with 14 points and Savanna Knop had 12.
