BLOUNTSVILLE — Aimme Cortes was the latest St. Bernard soccer player to boast a hat trick, and the Lady Saint defense smothered Susan Moore all night to cruise to a 5-1 road win over Susan Moore on Monday.

St. Bernard kept the Bulldogs at a safe distance from its goalkeeper for much of the contest, holding Susan Moore to just two shots on goal in the first half.

“Our defenders are killing it out there,” said Shannon Mescher, whose Saints improved to an impressive 3-1-1 mark with the victory.

Logan Ayers booted in a goal, and Abbie Mescher contributed an “amazing left-footed shot” to round out St. Bernard's scoring.

The Saints will begin area play on Thursday against Pope John Paul II.

St. Bernard's boys allowed three quick goals but held the Bulldogs scoreless in the second half in a 3-0 loss to the Bulldogs.
