PREP ROUNDUP: Goodwin sets state record with 7th perfect game of the season

VERNON — Following a tough 11-0 loss to Oakman, Cold Springs bounced back admirably, sinking Sulligent 5-3 to keep its season alive for more one day.

Bailey West collected three hits at the plate to lead the Eagles, while teammates McKinnley Davis and Haley Freeman  each notched a two-run hits. Savannah Taylor also chipped into with a hit and an RBI.

Rilee White was strong on the mound for Cold Springs, tossing a complete game, while allowing six hits and striking out nine batters.

Cold Springs will play Oakman again Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Prep Girls Golf

Cullman placed fifth in Tuesday’s sectional golf tournament at Cullman Golf Course, while Fairview came up just two strokes behind in sixth place.

The Bearcats finished with a team score of 300 with the Aggies carding a 302. Hartselle was the top team, shooting a very solid 252.

For the Aggies, Abbi Yeager led the way with a 91, while teammates Sadie Boyd (104), Maci Yeager (107) and Sarah Harper (111) all helped contribute to Fairview’s finish.
