CARBON HILL — CARBON HILL — Good Hope High didn’t expect to wait eight weeks for its second win of the season.
But now the waiting is finally over.
The Raiders picked up their second win of the season Friday night, going on the road to beat Carbon Hill 42-19 in Class 3A, Region 7 play.
Good Hope (2-7, 1-6) had not won since its season-opening win over Cullman County rival West Point.
The Raiders scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and led 42-6 at halftime. Tailback Taylor Hollis recorded two 27-yard touchdown runs in the first half to lead the rally.
Josh McClure paced Good Hope with 208 yards and four touchdowns on just seven carries.
Good Hope travels to county rival Fairview next week for their season finale.
Fayette County 27, West Point 12: The Warriors closed out Class 4A, Region 7 play with a road loss against Fayette County.
Fayette County led 14-0 after one quarter and 27-0 at the half before West Point’s Logan Bates scored two touchdowns in the second half.
West Point (1-8, 1-5) hosts Cullman County rival Hanceville next week to end the season.
Brilliant 35, Meek 20: At Brilliant, the visiting Tigers ended their season with a loss in Class 1A, Region 7 action.
Meek (1-8, 1-7) does not have a game next week, meaning its season is complete.
