ARLEY — Addison unleashed a punishing ground attack against in-county rival Meek to claim a 47-8 win Friday night in Class 1A action.

John Everett started the scoring for the No. 4 Bulldogs in the first quarter with a 1-yard plunge to grab a 7-0 lead. The score remained a one-touchdown spread until the second quarter, when the Addison running backs took control behind a disciplined offensive line.

Taylor Wilson slipped in from 3 yards out in the second quarter for the first of four touchdowns. Colby Kirk dashed downfield for a 39-yard run to add another score. Wilson struck next with a 30-yard scamper to put the game out of reach.

Addison then took to sailing through the air as Everett connected with Hunter Ray on a 22-yard pass play, brining the halftime score to 34-0.

Dillon Jarrett found the end zone early in the third quarter for the Bulldogs to push the lead to 40-0.

As the fourth quarter got under way, Addison was playing every member of the team. Hard running fullback Kyle Vincent, who amassed more than 70 yards on seven carries, provided the Bulldogs with their final score of the night on a 1-yard play.

Meek finally put together a sustained drive in the waning minutes of the game, going 60 yards to score on an 11-yard pass and converting a 2-point play. The final score stood at 47-8.

Meek gained half of its total offense on the final drive. For the night, the Tigers managed 45 yards on the ground and 82 through the air with one interception.

Addison piled up an impressive 255 yards on the ground, again using multiple running backs who touched the ball five to seven times each en route to the victory. The Bulldogs gained 86 in the air with one touchdown while completing 4 of 6 attempts.

Addison will host Sumiton Christian next Friday. The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 on the season, while Meek fell to 1-5.
