PREP BASKETBALL: Holly Pond's JV boys breeze by Cold Springs 54-25

HANCEVILLE — Holly Pond's junior varsity boys played like its tournament life was on the line Saturday, blasting Cold Springs 54-25 to advance to the second round of the Cullman County Basketball Tournament.

The Broncos started off hot and raced out to an early 14-1 lead, taking an 18-point advantage into halftime.

The second half was more of the same as Holly Pond forced turnover after turnover en route to an easy first-round win.

The Broncos' Matt Cahoon led all scorers with 17 points.

Joining Cahoon were Drew Jones and Bailey Smith, nine points; Josh Horton, eight; Nathan Duke, six; and Chase Allbright, five.

Tyler Rice picked up seven points for the Eagles, while teammates Devin Pace, Collin Day and Adam Carney all collected six points apiece.

Holly Pond will move on to play top-seeded Vinemont on Monday night at 5 p.m.
