PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Bronco boys join girls with blowout vs. Brindlee Mountain

HOLLY POND — Just as Holly Pond’s boys basketball team did against Good Hope one day earlier, the Broncos found themselves clinging to a slim lead at the end of the first quarter versus inferior area-foe Brindlee Mountain. And, for the second straight game, No. 6 Holly Pond went on an offensive rampage heading into halftime to pull away for a convincing victory.

Gunter Morris went wild for 15 of the Broncos’ massive 38 second-quarter points, and Holly Pond improved to 16-4 overall and 4-0 in Class 3A, Area 12 with an 83-53 blowout Tuesday night at home.

Morris finished the Broncos’ third win in a row with 24 points. The junior was joined by three teammates in double figures — Austin Smith (14), Colby Adams (12) and Blake Black (11).

Holly Pond will look to move one step closer to clinching the regular season area title on the road Friday against New Hope.
