The Cullman Times
As the indoor track and field season heats up, so too are Cullman and Vinemont’s student-athletes. The Bearcats and Eagles both claimed multiple top-20 results at the Icebreaker Invitational this past Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Cullman’s boys’ 4x800-meter relay team finished third, Chris Johnson took seventh in shot put (44’9”) and Stephen McNeal strided to 14th in the 800-meter run (2:08.06).
Emma Doss had a record-breaking outing for the Bearcat girls, reaching the final and breaking the school record in the 60-meter hurdles. She was 13th (10.84). Her teammate, Julia Masters, advanced to the final in the same event. She finished 16th (11.59).
Cullman’s Hillary Crider snagged 19th in the 3,200-meter run (13:34.95).
Vinemont’s Tyler Boland appears to be just fine after suffering a knee injury in Week 9 of the football season. The track star hopped, skipped and jumped his way to fourth in triple jump (42’.75”). Boland was also 16th in long jump (19’2.75”).
Eagle Trey Guthery tied for 16th in the high jump (5’2”).
