HANCEVILLE — The Hanceville baseball team used a decisive sweep of Cold Springs Tuesday to get back over the .500 mark early in the young season.

The homestanding Bulldogs eased by the Eagles 13-3 and 12-2, both in six innings, to improve to 4-3 entering Thursday's road game at J.B. Pennington.

Isaac Weissend was a silky-smooth 2 for 2 with three RBIs, Austin Coker was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs batted in, and Isaac Hardin had a hit and three RBIs in the opener. Branen Hurst was 2 for 2, and Alex Armstrong added a hit.

Back on the diamond in a full-time capacity for the first time since basketball ended, Dant'e Reese went 2 for 4 with an RBI, while Keith Twitty tacked on a double.

Hayden Loggins snagged the win with three strikeouts in three innings on the hill. He allowed four hits and two earned runs. Hurst fanned five and gave up two hits and one earned run in the last three innings.

The nightcap was even kinder kinder to Coker, who chipped in three more hits and another four RBIs in four at-bats. Hardin, Twitty, Reese and Griffin Brown had a hit apiece. Twitty also helped out with an RBI.

Blake Baker was the winning pitcher after striking out two and allowing five hits and an earned run in four innings of work. Coker capped off a dominant day with two K's and an earned run in two innings of no-hit ball.

Stats for Cold Springs were unknown.
