COLD SPRINGS —
Although her team lacked an offensive punch on Thursday afternoon, Rilee White made sure the opposition didn’t stand a chance.
The freshman tossed a complete game, yielding just two hits and striking out eight batters, as Cold Springs outlasted Vinemont 1-0 in a tense county showdown to pick up its fifth-straight win.
“It was a good game,” coach Patrick West said. “We didn’t have any errors. That was probably the difference.”
The lone run of the contest came in the bottom of the second inning when Hanna Wilson led off the frame with a single. She was sacrificed over and later scored on a passed ball. White had the only other hit for Cold Springs (15-11).
Raven Christensen was the tough-luck loser for Vinemont, striking out three and allowing just two hits. Kiersten Simmons and Allison Fowler both had singles.
Cold Springs will battle Fairview on Friday.
