The Tanner varsity girls certainly played above and beyond their record on Tuesday night at Wallace State.
The Rattlers (14-16) dominated Sulligent (20-11) from wire to wire, racing out to quarter leads of 20-2, 46-11 and 55-26 before securing an easy 75-36 decision over the Blue Devils to advance to the Class 2A title tilt of the Northwest Regional Tournament.
Kelsey Houston knocked down four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points to lead Tanner (14-16), while teammates Sydney Houston and Samara French poured in 14 and 10, respectively.
The Rattlers will play Cold Springs Friday at 3:40 p.m. for a chance to head to Birmingham.
Hannah Hampton paced Sulligent with 10 points. Brooklyn Noland and Miracle Bonman were both good for six.
% Tanner 53 , Vincent 39: The third-ranked Rattlers joined their female counterparts in the 2A regional final with a hard-earned win over the No. 4 Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night.
Tanner (25-4) led for almost all 48 minutes, riding the 13- and 12- point performances of Jace Haggermaker and Greg Maclin.
Vincent (23-7) cut the Rattlers' lead to nine points early in the fourth, but the Yellow Jackets couldn't break through, as Tanner made its free throws down the stretch to close the door on coach John Hadder's squad.
Vincent's offensive attack was spearheaded by Tyler Williams' 16 points, while EJ Datcher chipped in with 10. The Yellow Jackets shot just 21 percent from the floor.
Tanner will move on to face Hatton Friday at 5:20 p.m.
