CULLMAN — Brontae Harris has a lot more to offer than the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

While the ASWA is only able to pick two players of the week, the Hanceville sophomore can pick off as many passes as he'd like.

Last Friday, Harris had four interceptions, returned the first one 90 yards for a touchdown and led the Bulldogs to a 12-0 road win over Winfield, making him the clear-cut choice for the ASWA's Defensive/Special Teams Player of the Week.

The announcement came late Monday night, shortly after Harris was selected as a finalist for the Alabama High School Athletic Association's Week 6 Spotlight.

The Hanceville multi-sport star also scored on a 50-yard touchdown run. He finished with 116 rushing yards on 14 carries in the Bulldogs' third straight win.

Vinemont's Tyler Boland and Ty Jones, as well as Addison's Jesse Seals, joined Harris as local players who were recognized by both the ASWA and AHSAA.

Boland compiled 153 all-purpose yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Eagles' 56-49 shootout with No. 4 Hamilton, scoring twice in the last three minutes on a 58-yard punt return and 50-yard touchdown catch.

Jones, meanwhile, racked up more than 200 rushing yards for a whopping fourth time in six games. The senior carried the ball 38 times for 230 yards and three touchdowns.

After a disappointing 0-2 start, the Class 1A Bulldogs have begun to bite back, winning four straight contests behind spectacular defensive and special teams efforts from players like Seals. One week after snaring two second-half interceptions against Appalachian, the Addison senior tallied his third punt return for a touchdown of the season with an 85-yard highlight in a 28-0 victory versus Meek.

Vince Stewart became Cold Springs' first football player to be highlighted by the ASWA this year. The Eagle landed on the list of defensive/special teams standouts for returning an interception 47 yards that led to a game-sealing touchdown run by Caleb Ellison.

The 22-6 homecoming win over Francis Marion was Cold Springs' first region victory since 2007.

East Lawrence's Terrance Deloney was tabbed the ASWA's Offensive Player of the Week. The quarterback had 314 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries, in addition to 102 passing yards and two more touchdowns. Using the option, he scored on runs of 47, 58, 79 and 35 yards in the second half to erase a three-touchdown deficit in a 42-35 victory against Priceville.
