COLUMBUS, Ga. —
Jake Tucker is moving on from mowing down local men's invitational tournament fields and trying his luck at a big-time regional event.
After one round on the Country Club of Columbus (Ga.) course for the 84th Southeastern Amateur, so far, so good.
The Cullman High graduate and Troy golfer is in a seven-way tie for fifth place at 2-under following Wednesday's opening 18 holes.
Jimmy Beck, set to be a junior at Kennesaw State, has the lead all to himself at 6-under, while three players share second place at 3-under.
The second of four rounds is scheduled to begin Thursday at 8:10 a.m. (ET). Only the top 60 golfers — and ties — will make the cut for Saturday's final round.
