LOCAL ARCHERY: Good Hope, West Point ready for World Tourney

CULLMAN — The Good Hope High and West Point Middle School archery teams are going global.

After shooting lights out at the regional, state and national levels, both local programs will head to St. Louis, Mo., this weekend to unload their respective quivers at the World Archery Tournament. The event will run today through Sunday, but the Raiders and Warriors are scheduled to take their turns in the range on Saturday.

According to Good Hope coach Rosemary Brown, her squad is made up of 21 members — 12 boys and nine girls — many of whom have been on the roster since the team was formed four years ago.

“Their dedication and determination has been the key factor in obtaining the team’s goal of participating in the World Tournament, which is archery’s highest level of achievement,” Brown said.

The Raiders are comprised of Dale Aragon, Savannah Blackmon, Peyton Brewer, Lindsey Couch, Davis Dickerson, Will Dickerson, Shannon Dutton, Morgan Fowler, Josh Grigsby, Riley Hancock, Kyle Johnson, Kalitta Kauffman, Kate Kent, Heather Lowery, Morgan Lynn, Cole MacDonald, Chris Raper, Tyler Stringer, Hunter Sullins, James Wright and Jacob Wright.
