Varsity Boys

% Holly Pond 66, Cold Springs 49

In the boys’ game, Holly Pond (7-2) held off a late Cold Springs’ comeback attempt and held on to increase its winning streak to five.

The Broncos led by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter but the Eagles (9-2) didn’t give up.

Cold Springs’ Triston Chambers drained a 3-pointer to cut the Broncos’ lead to just five points with around four minutes to play.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, they ran out of gas as the Broncos finished the game on a 12-0 run to get the win.

“We played a little panicked there late in the game,” Holly Pond coach Mitch Morris said. “Fortunately for us, we were able to regain our composure and get the win.”

Holly Pond’s leading scorer was Colby Adams, who scored 14 points. Teammates Gunter Morris and Austin Smith each had 11 in the win.

Chambers’ 21 points set the pace for the Eagles, while Layne Rice chipped in with nine.
