Wallace State’s women’s basketball team just keeps cruising right along, notching its ninth straight win with a 71-59 road victory over Lawson State early Saturday evening.
Cullman High graduate Morgan Smith showed she can continue to be counted in with a 15-point performance for the No. 23 Lady Lions, which improved to 23-3 overall and 6-0 in the Alabama Community College Conference.
Wallace State’s Jasmine Coleman and Jaylan Snowden chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Down 33-27 at the break, the Lady Lions turned up the defensive heat and forced 16 second-half turnovers to make the difference in the conference clash.
Wallace State will now prepare for a marquee rematch Thursday at No. 12 Shelton State (24-2, 6-1 in ACCC). Smith sank the game-winning layup late last month to help the Lady Lions pull out a 62-61 thriller in the first meeting.
Tip-off for the women will be 5:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa. The men are slated to take the floor at 7:30 p.m.
