BOAZ —
The Cullman Swim Team’s regular season came to an abrupt close Thursday on the road against Boaz, as stormy conditions forced the Catfish and Barracudas to frantically clear the swimming deck before they could complete the longer-distance freestyle individual events and freestyle relays.
The unwelcome weather ultimately couldn’t keep the Cullman Swim Team out of the winner’s circle, though. The Catfish ended the shortened meet with 268 points, narrowly edging Boaz, which had 249.
Bennett Glasscock and Sawyer Trimble were able to win three individual events apiece before Thursday’s action ended prematurely.
Glasscock, 16, swam to first-place finishes in the 50-yard backstroke, 100-yard individual medley and 50-yard butterfly, while Trimble bested the 8-and-under boys field in the 100-yard IM, 25-yard breaststroke and 50-yard freestyle.
Seven other CST swimmers sported two wins each in the Catfish’s last dual meet of the summer.
