Three players surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark as Brewer set new school records for points scored and rushing yards in a homecoming blowout versus Vinemont.
T.J. Morrow, Nathan Stewart and Drew Styles each ran for more than 100 yards for the Patriots (2-3), who combined to rush for 500 yards, breaking a school record that had been in place since the early 1980s.
Stewart finished with 103 yards and three touchdowns on five carries, while Morrow added 126 yards and two touchdowns on 12 rushes. Drew Styles carried the ball six times for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Reserve running back Greg Johnson tacked on 98 yards and a touchdown on four carries for Brewer, while backup quarterback Blake Borden added a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Orey Woods scored the Eagles' lone touchdown, rushing 75 yards for a score to pull the Red and White within eight early in the second quarter.
With the loss, Vinemont falls to 3-2 (2-1 in Class 3A, Region 7) on the season. The Eagles will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Hamilton next week to take on the Aggies in what could be a very pivotal region game for Alan Scott’s squad.
Brewer jumps back into region play Thursday against Columbia at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville.
