ASWA: Lady Raiders’ stock rising, Bearcat baseball drops to No. 5 in latest ranking

CULLMAN — Good Hope’s softball team is on its way up in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s rankings after winning all four of its games this past week by a combined score of 52-0.

The Raiders (16-5), which jumped from eighth to No. 6 in Class 3A, are currently riding an eight-game win streak that includes six straight shutouts and seven overall.

Meanwhile on the baseball side of the rankings, 5A Cullman dropped one spot for the second week in a row. The now-No. 5 Bearcats (14-10) were 4-2 since the ASWA last released its list, uncharacteristically losing an area contest to East Limestone, as well a 1-0 pitcher’s duel versus Hoover.

Vinemont (12-7) fell from the top 10 to “others nominated” in 3A baseball, while Holly Pond’s softball squad was nowhere to be found after spending a few weeks in the mix.
