HANCEVILLE — The all-important area series between Vinemont's and Hanceville's baseball teams will come down to Wednesday's rubber game after the county foes split a pair of contests on Tuesday.
Senior Duncan Hopper pitched the Eagles to a 10-2 victory to start things off, while Hayden Loggins ruled the mound in a 12-2 rout for the Bulldogs.
Hopper was exceptional in the opener, striking out 15 and allowing four hits.
Loggins answered the call in the nightcap, however, giving up just three hits and striking out five to allow Keith Twitty and Christian James to do their damage at the plate. Both players sported a pair of hits, and Twitty added an RBI.
The rivals will play the series clincher Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Vinemont.
