Guthery was a frequent flyer at the Birmingham CrossPlex, leaping to second place in the triple jump (37’7.75”) and long jump (5’6”). Garrett Boland, Kyle Weems, Nathan Handley and Nick Jarrett also corraled top-10 finishes in their respective events to help the Eagles land in seventh out of 21 boys teams that scored at least one point. The Red and White’s 32.5 points were less than three back of sixth and eight of fifth.
Heaton was quite the busy lady for the Broncos, somehow finding time to pull off third in the long jump (14’6”), sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:09) and 12th in the 60-meter dash (8.70). Teammate Megan Barksdale was fourth in the high jump (4’4”).
Cold Springs senior Cassi Still cruised to sixth in the 1,600-meter run (5:59).
Vinemont, Holly Pond and Cold Springs competed in the Class 1A-4A portion of event on Friday. Cullman joined in the fun with the rest of the 5A-6A field on Saturday.
The Bearcats’ Garrison Hill tied for 12th in the pole vault (11’6”).
