PREP ROUNDUP: Cold Springs topples Fairview in season finale

COLD SPRINGS — Apparently Cold Springs High’s big three don’t have to play an entire game to lead the Eagles in scoring.

Paige Parker, Jessi Harbison and Georgia Myrex did it Tuesday night, despite little playing time in the second half of a 71-34 win over Fairview.

Cold Springs didn’t need its big three — who combined for 40 points — in the second half. The Eagles’ talented youngsters were able to get the job done.

Abby Myrex scored nine points off the bench and Kaitlyn Allums added six, helping Cold Springs close out the regular season strong.

Parker led all scorers with 17 points, while Georgia Myrex followed with 12. Harbison added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Alysha Smith led Fairview with eight.

Danville 58, Good Hope 56: Poor free-throw shooting doomed Good Hope in the second half.

Good Hope carried a four-point lead into the fourth period, but nine missed free throws in the final eight minutes hurt the Raiders’ chances.

Ashley Stanley led Good Hope with 12 points, while Nina Mills and Kayla Elrod added 10 points each. Elizabeth Hardin tossed in eight.

Varsity Boys

Good Hope 64, Danville 52: Micah Posey dunked at the buzzer, but the Raiders didn’t need it. The win was already in the books.

Taylor Hollis led Good Hope with 14 points and Kyle Aycock tossed in 12. Brody Whitlock followed with 10 points for the Raiders and Matt Blackmon added nine.

Fairview 46, Cold Springs 43: The Eagles missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, dropping the regular season finale to Fairview.

Chase Talley led Fairveiw with 12 points. Trett Hardman added eight.

Justin Aby led all scorers with 22 points.
