Raiders get revenge, top Columbia
Monday night was a measuring stick for Good Hope High’s boys basketball team.
Facing a Columbia team that physically dominated them in the first game of their season, the Raiders returned the favor — turning in a physical performance in a 51-42 road win over the Eagles in Huntsville.
“We played with consistency the week of the county tournament and again tonight against a very quality opponent,” Good Hope coach David Hulsey said. “Our post play has really come around. Physically, we held our own tonight on the boards.”
The Raiders overcame a 25-21 halftime deficit despite the loss of senior Trace Moody to a possible season-ending shoulder injury. Playing with a larger lineup, Good Hope got 12 points from Tyler Rutledge and 11 from Taylor Hollis.
Kyle Aycock led the Raiders with 13 points, while Matt Blackmon and Brody Whitlock tossed in six each.
