Recent tourneys have been good golf competition

Wow! What a tournament! The Chesley Oaks Open was once again a great success and I want to thank all who participated this year.

In probably one of the best shoot-outs the tournament has seen, Scott Weaver of Madison, the defending champion, defeated Jason Dillard of Cullman.

The lead changed hands several times throughout the course of the last round with Weaver prevailing with a one-shot victory shooting rounds of 63-66, 129(-13).

Congratulations to all the winners.

We had our Chesley Oaks Junior Championship Saturday.

The format was individual stroke play with U.S.G.A. rules being followed.

The overall champion was Al Young, who finished the day with a score of 73.

Jeff Blankenship won the 16- and 17-year-old age division by shooting a 77 on the day.

Jordan Fulmer won the 14- and 15-year-old age division with a score of 82.

Before winning, Jordan had to win a one-hole playoff with Jonathan Anderson for the championship.

The 12- and 13-year-olds played nine holes and Colby Chamblee came out on top with a score of 35.

Good job to the winners and everyone who participated.

Congratulations to Larry Sanderson for making a hole in one on the 12th hole this past week.

Larry aced the par 3 from 150 yrds. Using a 7-irons. His feat was witnessed by playing partner Wilford James.

Not to be out done, Tim Echols aced the 15th hole from 160 yds., also using a 7-iron.

His hole in one was witnessed by Millard Guffey and Chuck Lemons. Way to go gentleman!!

On October 2nd and 3rd we will be hosting our Annual Senior Open.

This tournament is an exciting event which provides our senior players an opportunity to show their skills without having to compete against the limber backs and flat bellies as our younger player are often referred to today.
