PREP ROUNDUP: Bailey homers as Aggies roll Good Hope 10-1

FAIRVIEW — Fairview had no issue with Good Hope on Tuesday, as Luke Bailey shone at the plate in the runaway victory.

Among Bailey’s three hits, one RBI and four runs was a solo shot. He also struck out three batters in two innings of work.

Dexton Gregory (two hits and three RBIs), Lane Denny (two hits and two RBIs) and Bryant Powers (two hits and two RBIs) were the other key contributors for the Aggies at the plate.

Drakkar Chambers paced the Raiders with two hits.

Prep Golf

The Cullman varsity boys golf team placed third at the Lawrence County Invitational on Monday.

The Bearcats carded a team score of 318, led by All-Tournament selection Sylas Elliott, whose round of 70 was good for a third-place finish individually. Colby Sandlin (79), Connor Stevens (80), Weston Rakestraw (89) and Trey Moon (95) rounded out the scoring for the Black and Gold.

The junior varsity squad placed sixth overall in the same tournament. They finished with a team score of 345 and were paced by Penn Kennedy’s round of 81. Garrett Crider shot an 84, while Luke Wilson, James Goodwin and Jamie Seagroves shot rounds of 90, 91 and 95, respectively.

% Hayden 2, Good Hope 0: Cara Goodwin surrended a two-run, walk-off home run in the eighth inning, as the No. 4 Raiders fell on the road Tuesday, snapping their winning streak at 19.

Goodwin pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and striking out nine. She also had a hit.

Bailie Andrews, Darcie Wilson, Maegan Sterling and Darby Randolph all collected singles for No. 4 Good Hope (27-6) in the loss.

% Good Hope 7, Westminster Christian 0: The Raiders notched another shutout on Monday, as Goodwin tossed a complete-game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

Goodwin and teammate Alannah Henke each collected three hits at the plate and drove in a run. Sterling had three RBI and a hit as well. Other Raiders to get hits were Andrews, Wilson, Savannah Fendley and Kacy Thomas.

% Good Hope 11, Falkville 5: Josie McDonald tossed a complete game and Fendley smacked her first home run of her career, as the Raiders hammered the Blue Devils on Monday.

Henke led Good Hope at the plate with three hits and two RBI, while Goodwin was good for two knocks and three RBI.

Andrews, Wilson, Randolph, Fendley, McDonald and Elise Whitworth all provided one hit apiece.
