HANCEVILLE — The Wallace State Lions were defeated 7-4 by Shelton State in the ACCC Tournament Championship held Friday at James C. Bailey Stadium on the Wallace State campus.
Craig Kimbrel pitched the first four innings and took the loss for the Lions. He gave up six runs on three hits, walking eight and striking out seven.
Also pitching for the Lions were Austin Lucas, Carlton Paris, and Jonathan Lopez. Lucas pitched two innings and gave up one run on four hits and walked one. Paris pitched for one and one-third inning and gave up one run on one hit and walked one. Lopez pitched for one-third inning.
At bat for the Lions, Dustin Lawley went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two RBI. Chris Cain was 1-for-3 and scored. Ryan Davis singled and had an RBI. Rich Porohnavi scored after reaching base on a walk.
Dustin Lawley, Craig Kimbrel and Zac Taylor were named to the ACCC All-Tournament Team.
The Lions finish the season with an overall record of 38-15 and a conference record of 23-7.
Shelton State advances to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colo.
