Wooden bridge on Walnut Street closed due to damage

CULLMAN — The small, wooden bridge on Walnut Street that runs above the CSX railroad crossing has been closed due to damage.

Cullman officials say the bridge will be closed indefinitely until a team from the CSX railroad company can examine the structure. Initial reports indicate a component attached to a passing train may have struck and damaged a support beam below the bridge.

The one-lane bridge is located in the center of an industrial area, around Rusken Pacakaging and McGriff Transportation.
