The Cullman City Street Department will have crews working on Larkwood Drive, Convent Road, St. Joseph Drive and Logan St. SW. Watch for flag crews in these areas.


Today: Sunny, with a high near 38. North wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 23. North wind around 5 mph becoming south after midnight.

Special concert at Southside Baptist: Southside Baptist Church, 2003 Main Ave. SW, Cullman 35055, will have as their guests, Canaan’s Crossing, in concert at 6 p.m. Info: Pastor Perry Knight at 256-734-4090 or 256-747-4743.

Jam session: The Town of South Vinemont will hold a jam session at 6 p.m. in the Cary C. Montgomery Scout Center, 88 Ridgeway St., Cullman 35058. Info: Vinemont Town Hall at 256-737-5411.

Rummage sale: Hopewell Baptist Church, 492 County Road 582, Hanceville 35077, will hold a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church. All proceeds go to the church building fund.

Children’s ministry conference: A children’s ministry conference, “Energize”, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 2, at Daystar Church, 200 Daystar Dr., Cullman 35057. Chocolate tasting extravaganza: Beta Delta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Sorority will host this event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12, at St. Paul’s School Auditorium, 510 3rd Ave. SE, Cullman 35055. Lots of chocolate, even sugar free. Tickets are $5 advance or at door. Takeouts available. Proceeds go to scholarship fund for a student pursuing a career in the teaching profession.

The Times seeks nominations for 2013 Unsung Heroes: The Cullman Times is seeking the community's nominations for our annual list of Unsung Heroes that will be published in our 2013 Profile edition.

Do you know someone who deserves recognition for civic or church work, community service or dedication to an activity or organization? If so, please nominate them as an Unsung Hero.

We're seeking the people who display unselfish acts of kindness, courage or generosity that make Cullman County a better place to live and work.

To nominate someone for the recognition, write us a note that describes what the person does or did that is so special. You cannot nominate yourself. We will choose six to eight for publication in Profile 2013, which is scheduled for March. We will take their photographs and invite them and the people who nominated them to a reception sometime in March.
